VEGGIE DOGSaw this in a recent copy of Natural Medicine - hope Paul Jacobson of Vondis Holistic Pet Nutrition doesnt mind me posting it: "Four legs or two, is there really a difference? Do our four legged companions have different nutritional needs? All beings, animal and human, rely on nutrition for their well being, health and longevity. The essential components of nutrition include vitamins and minerals, protein, enzymes, omegas, amino acids and antioxidants. Dogs are certainly omnivores and therefore require copious amounts of vegatables to enable them to survive and age with dignity. In fact they would cope extremely well on an exclusive diet of vegetables, but the same cannot be said of a diet that is exclusively meat. However, you want to know wether your Rottie will still love you! Not only will he love you, he will love you for much longer. He will love you for offering him a diet that is rich in variety. He will love you for the sweetness in veggies. He will love you for giving him the opportunity to age in health and free from the many ailments that are so common nowadays. If you were a dog, which would you prefer? The same boring old pellets or a succulent minestrone soup? Note that if you are planning on feeding your Rottie exclusively on veggies you certainly do need to take advice. But if you are planning on including vegetables in his existing diet, i would encourage you to go ahead and do so, in any quantity"
